A practical checklist: search, confirm pricing, add privacy, and finish checkout — with clear renewal rates.

Before you start

  • Choose 2–3 name variations (short, easy to spell).
  • Know your preferred extension: .com is common, but .net/.org can work too.
  • Decide if you want WHOIS privacy (recommended when available).

Step-by-step

1

Search your domain

Go to Domain Search, type your name (or a full domain like example.com), then click Search.

Tip: If your first choice is taken, try adding a keyword, using a shorter name, or testing a different extension.
2

Confirm pricing (register vs renewal)

Domaintico shows both the first-year registration price and the renewal price up front. Make sure you’re comfortable with the renewal rate before checkout.

  • Register = first year cost.
  • Renewal = yearly price after the first term (unless a promo applies).
3

Add WHOIS privacy (if available)

If the extension supports it, you can add privacy during checkout. This helps reduce spam and hides personal contact details in public WHOIS.

Note: Some TLDs don’t allow privacy due to registry rules.
4

Review contact details

Use accurate registrant/admin contact information — it matters for ownership proof, transfers, and recovery.

5

Complete checkout securely

Pay using available methods. After checkout, you’ll be able to manage the domain in your dashboard (DNS, nameservers, contacts, renewals).

6

Verify and set up DNS

If you already have hosting or a website builder, set nameservers or add DNS records. For most sites, you’ll need an A record (or CNAME) and optional www.

Troubleshooting

I registered, but the domain isn’t working yet.
DNS changes can take time to propagate. Many domains work quickly, but some TLDs or DNS providers may take longer. Double-check nameservers and DNS records in your dashboard.
The domain shows “Taken”. What should I do?
Try a variation (add a keyword), choose a different extension, or consider adding a prefix/suffix. If you own the domain elsewhere, use the Transfer flow.
Can I change DNS after purchase?
Yes. You can update nameservers and DNS records any time from your Domaintico dashboard.
